Xbox lowers its price again
Great news for gamers and Xbox fans. For the second time this year Microsoft has lowered the prices of its Xbox 360 video game consoles, making the Xbox 360 Arcade the lowest-priced of the next-generation consoles and firing the first shot in what could be a pre-Christmas price war among the big three manufacturers. Beginning today, Microsoft drops the price of the Xbox 360 Arcade by $70, putting it under $200 mark at $199.99. Microsoft also drops the price of the Xbox 360 Console from $399.99 to $349.99, and the Xbox 360 Elite from $499.99 to $449.99.

This definitely is the weirdest news we have come across this week. Who says facial hair isn’t good? Well the American Mustache Institute (AMI) is looking for the first ever “Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year,” recognizing the most impactful Mustached American of the past year! The winner of the award will be announced Oct. 25 at ‘Stache Bash 2008, a benefit for Challenger Baseball, a baseball league for the disabled.
“The Goulet award allows us to honor a distinguished Mustached American,” said Dr. Daniel T. Callahan, AMI research director. “The winner must both champion the mustache and stand apart from his or her fellow Americans – a soup straining school teacher; Jason Giambi of the Yankees for helping popularize the cookie duster in baseball again; a mustached fireman; or, if he were American, Daniel Day Lewis for being the first mustached ‘Best Actor’ winner since Paul Newman in 1986.”

Dublin Named Europe’s #1 Destination for Poker!
Dublin has been awarded the title of European Poker Capital 2008 by Bluff Europe Magazine. The Irish capital pipped last year’s winner, London, to the post — with Vienna, Amsterdam and Barcelona named third, fourth and fifth places respectively. Bluff Europe praised Dublin’s lively and friendly poker scene, as well as the wealth of poker clubs and tournaments available to the poker playing public.
Dublin has a fine selection of card rooms and, poker is also growing steadily on a grassroots level in the city through poker societies and pub poker leagues. Each year exciting new tournaments spring up with buy-ins to suit all pockets. Dublin is also home to the Irish Open, the oldest and most revered tournament in Europe.
Last year’s contest saw Dublin come in a respectable second to London but this year the Irish capital was the city that most impressed the Bluff Europe panel. “Last year, in recognition of the inaugural WSOPE and the general health of its burgeoning poker scene, we chose London as the place to be. This induced a lot of snickering from across the Irish Sea, where they’re rightfully very protective of their fantastic poker scene,” said Philip Conneller, Editor of Bluff Europe. “But this year there was really only one candidate.”
“Gentleman” Liam Flood, who has been a stalwart of Irish poker since he helped introduce Hold’em to the Emerald Isle in the Seventies, was delighted with the news. “It’s because of the craic,” he explained, when asked him to describe what he felt was special about poker in Dublin. “There’s a sense of community. We find that a few drinks after the game helps you relax, too.”

Casino fined for admitting 14 year old
Age does matter and the law is serious when it comes to drinking and driving and gambling. This once again proved true when it was found a 14 year old went on a gambling spree at the gaming floor. According to law you have to 21 to play the slots at Chester. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board said the girl went unnoticed as she fed the machines at Harrah’s Chester. The lights and sounds would dazzle any kid, but the gaming floor is no playground, Fox 29’s John Atwater reported.
“I was horrified,” said Lisa Pertzoff, of the National Council on Problem Gambling. Officials said the 14-year-old somehow slipped past security, played the slots, talked to a cashier and cashed out before anyone noticed her.” Fourteen is a stretch. Someone, apparently, was not minding the store,” Pertzoff said.

Maybe the 14 year old did make a mistake but such an impressionable age its best to forgive and let her move on. The casino should be careful about who it lets in.

Progressive Gaming to Effect Reverse Stock Split
Progressive Gaming International Corporation, a leading provider of diversified products and services used in the gaming industry worldwide, announced today that it plans to effect a one-for-eight reverse split of the authorized, issued and outstanding shares of the Company’s common stock after the close of trading on September 15, 2008. The Company is implementing the reverse stock split to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies, its recent financing transactions and NASDAQ listing requirements. Following the reverse stock split the Company will have approximately 10.8 million shares issued and outstanding, inclusive of 2.1 million shares issuable pursuant to the convertible note debenture with International Game Technology (”IGT”) and approximately 0.8 million shares issuable under option and warrant agreements. The preceding calculation does not include any contingent warrants or shares that may be issuable to Private Equity Management (”PEM”) and IGT. Following the reverse stock split, the number of total authorized shares of the Company’s common stock will be reduced to 12.5 million shares.
Separately, the Company announced that, since August 18, 2008, it has repurchased 139,300 shares of its common stock for total consideration of approximately $100,000 in open market transactions pursuant to the share repurchase plan initially authorized in 2002. Prior to August 18, 2008, the Company had approximately $1.5 million remaining under this share repurchase plan. Additional purchases may be made from time to time, as and when permissible under applicable securities law, in the open market at prevailing market prices, through 10b5-1 programs or in privately negotiated transactions. The timing and actual number of shares to be purchased will depend on market conditions and other factors. Purchases may be discontinued at any time.
